This week, AmCham submitted a position paper and recommendations to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Finance Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Kudrin on improving draft legislation intended to create a national payment system.
Also this week, AmCham submitted its analysis to the RF Federal Anti-Monopoly Service on the Russian law placing restrictions on foreign investment in Russian strategic industries and sectors. Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has directed the Service to gather such analysis from the business community.
AmCham St. Petersburg and the St. Petersburg Committee for Economic Development, Industrial Policy and Trade co-organized a joint panel discussion this week, entitled “Investment Climate, Competitiveness and Cooperation.”
On Thursday, the Bi-Lateral Commission Committee of the AmCham Board of Directors met to follow up on recent AmCham meetings with the U.S. State Department and U.S. Embassy, and to discuss how AmCham can best promote the input of its business community within the framework of U.S.-Russia Bilateral Presidential Commission Working Group on Business Development and Economic Relations.
As part of AmCham’s ongoing outreach program for future Russian, U.S., and international decision-makers, AmCham President and CEO Andrew Somers met with groups of MBA students from both Yale and Dallas Baptist universities visiting Moscow.
