President of the Republic of Bashkortostan Murtaza Rakhimov

Murtaza Gubaidullovich Rakhimov, 74, is a graduate from Ufa Oil Institute.

    He started his career in 1956 as an operator at Ufa Oil Refining Plant. He worked at the plant till 1990, and finished his career there as the general director.

    In 1990-1993, he served as the Chairman of the republican legislative assembly.

    On December 12, 1993 he was elected the first President of the Republic of Bashkortostan. He was re-elected in 1998 and 2003, and in 2006 he started his fourth term.
