Governor of Altai Krai Alexander Bogdanovich Karlin

Alexander Bogdanovich KARLIN was born on October 29, 1951, in the village of Medvedka of Tyumentsevski District of Altai Krai.

In 1972, he graduated from Sverdlovsk Law Institute and started his career at the prosecutor’s office in the city of Biysk. He worked as a criminal investigator, prosecutor’s assistant and deputy district prosecutor.

In 1982, he was appointed a deputy prosecutor of the city of Barnaul, and then head of division of the krai prosecutor’s office. Four years later he was transferred to the office of the General Prosecutor of the USSR, where he worked as assistant to the General Prosecutor and, later deputy head of department. In 1992, Mr. Karlin has headed the department.   

On April 28, 2000, he was appointed first deputy Minister of Justice of Russia.

In April 2004, he started his work as Head of the State Service Department of the Presidential Administration.

Since August 25, 2005, he is the Governor of Altai Krai.

Governor Karlin has an academic degree in law. He is married with two sons.
