	Medvedev Receives President Putin's Support
	Dear Members and Friends of the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia,

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced today that he was backing First Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev to succeed him as President next year. Mr. Medvedev is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of Gazprom. 

The American Chamber of Commerce in Russia has had positive relations in the past with Mr. Medvedev. I met with him last year in Davos and participated in a very engaging and interesting roundtable with him. This year, regarding technical regulations reform, Mr. Medvedev took AmCham’s position into serious consideration and was able to craft a solid and satisfactory compromise between differing views on how best to proceed with this important reform. Also, at the Chamber’s request, he met with the CEOs of American blue chip companies in Moscow.
