For Immediate Release

Conyers expands in Moscow with New Hire

Conyers Dill & Pearman has hired Russian lawyer Yuri Kashkin to its leading offshore practice in Moscow as the firm continues to grow its European presence.

Yuri has specialist expertise in general corporate and commercial work, including banking and finance. He regularly advises banks, as well as public and private companies, on multi-jurisdictional corporate and finance transactions.

Yuri joins Conyers from the Moscow office of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, where he was an associate in the corporate and project finance team. Prior to joining Freshfields, Yuri worked in the corporate team of Baker & McKenzie in Moscow.

Caroline O’Hare, Managing Partner of Conyers’ Moscow office, commented: “Conyers has seen continued growth in the demand for offshore legal advice in Moscow. Yuri complements our team of lawyers in place in Moscow, and represents our commitment to the region. I believe Yuri will be a very valuable addition to our team here in Moscow, and am pleased to welcome him to the firm.”

Speaking of his move to Conyers, Yuri said: “Conyers is well known for its expertise and experience both in Moscow and across the globe, and I am pleased to join the team.”

Yuri qualified as a lawyer (Honours) in the Moscow State Law Academy and was admitted to practise in Russia in 2005. He holds a PhD in Public International and European Law from the Russian Academy for Foreign Trade and a Translator Honours qualification from the Moscow State Law Academy. Yuri has published a book on European Labour Law (Wolters Kluwer, 2009) and has participated as a speaker in numerous conferences related to labour law issues. He is fluent in Russian and English.

Yuri is the latest lawyer to join Conyers’ Moscow office within a year, following the addition of associate Claire McConway earlier this year. This month Conyers has also hired litigation lawyer Ben Hart in its Cayman Islands practice, and expects to announce further hires in coming months.
