Mikhail Orlov has been appointed Partner of Tax and Legal Department and Head of Tax Disputes Resolution Team, KPMG in Russia and CIS. Natalia Diatlova has been appointed Head of Legal at KPMG North-West Regional Center. Stanislav Denisenko, Senior Manager at Tax and Legal Department has been assigned with a role of Head of Tax Disputes Resolution Team in the North-West Region.
Prior to joining KPMG, Mikhail Orlov served as lawyer at ‘Andrei Makarov & Aleksandr Tobak’ Law Firm, where he focused on supporting clients in tax related disputes, conducted cases in arbitration court and court of general jurisdiction, provided legal assistance in criminal cases, investigation, examination and trial. Before that, Mikhail acted as Head of Taxation Policy Department with the Russian Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.
Mikhail holds a position of Associate Professor of Financial Law at the Faculty of Law of the Higher School of Economics. He also serves as Chairman of Tax Law Expert Council of Budget and Tax Committee of the Russian State Duma.
Mikhail graduated from the Moscow State Law Academy specializing in Law and holds a Ph.D. in Law.
Natalia Diatlova hasjoined KPMG from Salans where she served as Of Counsel, acted as a Co-Head of Real Estate Practice and led the Public Private Partnership (PPP) team.
She has been in the legal profession for over 14 years and during that time has coordinated a number of sizeable international investment projects in the North-West region (Saint Petersburg, Leningrad and Novgorod Regions) and other regions of Russia on commercial and civil law matters, real estate matters, foreign investment, acquisition of ownership, lease of premises, implementation of greenfield and brownfield projects, construction/reconstruction of multifunctional trade centers, business centers, warehouses and production facilities. She also has provided legal support in transactions with the application of English law.
Natalia served as the leading lawyer for the first infrastructure investment project in Russia implemented based on PPP principles – construction of the Western High-Speed Diameter toll motorway.
She is a member of the European PPP Center and actively participates in the discussions of the amendments to the Russian PPP laws. Natalia serves as co-chair at the St. Petersburg International Business Association (SPIBA) Committee on Infrastructure Projects and is a member of the Expert Advisory Council of the Committee on Transport of the State Duma. Natalia is also a member of the Expert Advisory Council on PPP Legislation of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy and Entrepreneurship.
Stanislav Denisenko has been working for KPMG in St. Petersburg since 1997 and has vast experience defending KPMG clients’ interests at state agencies including tax and customs agencies, currency control agencies as well as arbitration courts and courts of general jurisdiction in administrative, tax, customs, currency and commercial disputes. Stanislav specializes in complex tax planning, tax structuring and post-deal support for business projects including investment projects in order to achieve maximum economic effect by choosing the appropriate legal and tax management structure.
Stanislav also has diverse experience in advising international and Russian corporations in the course of due diligence, providing tax transaction services as well as advising on complex matters of tax, currency, customs and investment legislation.
