Hotel Astoria invites guests to usher in the New Year in the finest time-honoured Russian traditions.
On New Year’s Eve, Davidov Restaurant will be transformed into imperial chambers, with heavy drapes and ornate candelabras. Guests will be entertained by jesters, along with a gypsy-style show and magic. The festive table in Davidov will boast caviar, a host of hors d’oeuvres and salads, meat and poultry dishes, sturgeon, salmon and much more. There will also be free-flowing vodka, brandy and champagne.
The programme will be in English.
On New Year’s Eve, the doors of the Winter Garden will be thrown open to welcome guests to a fashionable salon. The exclusive menu will consist of six dishes made with vanilla or chocolate: foie gras terrine with strawberry and vanilla compote, venison fillet with dark chocolate sauce and fried forest mushrooms, chocolate and vanilla sorbet and other culinary delights. The feast will be accompanied by wines chosen especially to complement the dishes, as well as by vodka and champagne.
The evening’s programme includes a superb ballet show of highlights from films and musicals, as well as a performance by a contemporary dance studio combining elements of both classical and modern dance. After 2 a.m., there will be music and merry-making with a New Year’s disco and DJ.
The programme will be in Russian.

Angleterre Hotel will celebrate New Year’s Eve with a festive safari evening. Borsalino Restaurant and Caviar Bar will be transformed into a stunning tropical rainforest, and guests will be greeted by guides who will help them to navigate the enchanted jungle.
This unforgettable New Year’s voyage will take you through to 2010 in style. The journey will be marked by dazzling ballet shows, Riverdance-style performances and Mexican mariachi, as well as appearances by Father Frost and Santa Claus, entertaining games, competitions and quizzes, and most importantly of all, “Hunt the Tiger” — at the end of which the most skilled hunters will receive trophies.
Borsalino’s new head chef, Antonio Voci, will present revellers with a sun-soaked Italian menu for New Year’s Eve. Guests cannot fail to be delighted by the large range of meat and fish antipasti, followed by pasta, Minestrone soup, Lasagna, aubergines alla Parmigiana, roasted veal and turkey, beef Stroganoff, Italian Zampone with lentil stew, swordfish, prawns and salmon, accompanied by sauces and a variety of side dishes. The delectable desserts will include fresh fruits, Tiramisu, Panna Cotta, Christmas pudding and Chocolate Bonet, as well as other cakes and pastries from around the world. Guests will be greeted with a glass of sparkling Italian wine upon arrival, and may order Champagne or vodka to accompany their meal.
