Governor of Ivanovo Oblast Mikhail Alexandrovich Men
Mikhail Alexandrovich MEN was born on November 12, 1960 in the village of Semkhoz in the Sergiev-Posad (Zagorsk) district of Moscow Oblast. His father Alexander Men was a famous Russian Orthodox priest.
As a schoolboy he played a role in the movie The Dennis’ Tales.
He graduated from the Moscow Gas and Oil Industry Institute, Moscow State University of Culture, Institute of Management, Economy, Law and Informatics, and the Russian Academy of the State Service.
He has an academic degree in philosophy.
In 1983, he started his career in the cultural institutions of Moscow, and since 1991, he worked in the publishing business.
In 1993, he was elected as a member of the Moscow Regional Legislative Assembly, and in 1995, he was elected to the State Duma (lower chamber of the national parliament).
On January 9, 2000, he was elected as vice-mayor of Moscow Oblast, and since November 2002 until December 2005 he served as vice-mayor of Moscow.
Since December 23, 2005 he has been governing Ivanovo Oblast.
Governor Men is married with four children. Music (playing bass guitar) and sport (tennis, swimming, skiing) are among his hobbies.
