Governor of Kaliningrad Oblast Georgiy Valentinovich Boos
Georgiy Valentinovich BOOS was born on January 22, 1963 in Moscow.
In 1986, he graduated from Moscow Energy Institute as an engineer of lighting equipment. After the graduation he served in the Soviet Army.
He has an academic degree in engineering.
In the period 1989-91, he was an engineer, senior engineer and junior researcher at the Lighting Equipment Institute, and part-time teacher of mathematics in Moscow high school.
In 1991-95 he directed lighting equipment enterprise Svetoservis.
In December, 1995 Dr. Boos was elected as a Member of the State Duma (parliament) of Russia, and served on the Budget, Tax, Banking and Finance Committee. In 1996-97, he joined Our Home is Russia Duma block.
On September 29, 1998 Dr. Boos was appointed as Head of the State Tax Service, later he was appointed as a Minister for Taxes and Fees.
In May 1999 Dr. Boos resigned together with the rest of the Cabinet headed by Prime-Minister Primakov.
In December 1999 he was elected to the State Duma again. Since then and until 2003, he served as a member of the Fatherland – All Russia Duma block, Deputy Chairman of the Duma from the Fatherland – All Russia Duma group.
In December 2003 Dr. Boos was re-elected to the State Duma. From 2003 to September 21, 2005, he was a Deputy Chairman of the Duma, a member of the Presidium of the United Russia Duma block, and a member of the Supreme Council of the United Russia political party.
On September 28, 2005 Dr. Boos was elected as Governor of Kaliningrad oblast.
