U.S. Expat Tax Relief

Dear Members and Friends of the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia,

I am pleased to report that AmCham’s relentless effort to secure a fair deal for U.S. taxpayer expats in Russia continues to pay dividends.

Last week the U.S. Treasury raised the housing exclusion ceiling for the tax year 2007 to U.S. $ 90,000 for U.S. nationals residing in Moscow.

And for the first time, U.S. nationals residing in other “high-rent” Russian cities will receive U.S. tax relief as per the following housing exclusion ceilings:

St. Petersburg $ 41,500
Sakhalin Island $ 77,500
Vladivostok $ 77,500
Yekaterinburg $ 47,400

Regards,

Andrew B. Somers
President
