	Good news on deductibility of royalties.
	Dear Members and Friends of the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia,

AmCham’s intensive advocacy to repel the challenge of the Russian tax authorities to the deductibility of royalty payments by members to their parent companies for  commercial use here of their parents’ trade names and brands appears very close to achieving final success.

We have placed on our website comprehensive analyses and conclusions supporting our position by deputy ministers at the Finance Ministry and the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and by the Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Budget and Taxes. These supporting documents followed from meetings over the past several months with the relevant authorities.

While formal closing of the tax challenge awaits action by the tax office we believe it is important to notify members that a positive result is likely in the near future, restoring millions of revenue dollars at risk to the bottom line.
