In Russia to get first-hand knowledge of the burgeoning hi-tech sector, Cadence Design Systems Inc.’s new president and CEO Michael Fister addressed senior executives from AmCham member companies on Feb. 16, 2005.
As part of the AmCham Russia CEO Forum series featuring visiting CEOs of global corporations and select corporate leaders in Russia, Fister met with a dozen executives to gain insight into the market from on-the-ground experts and to share his vision for his company’s strategy for the Russian market.
Cadence Design Systems Inc. announced the appointment of Fister as president and CEO on May 12 of this year. Prior to joining Cadence, he had been a senior vice president at Intel Corporation and general manager of the Enterprise Platforms Group, which designs, markets and supports building blocks for enterprise computing. Fister first joined Intel in 1987.
On beginning his tenure with Cadence, Fister remarked, “I am excited about this opportunity to lead Cadence through the next phase in the evolution of semiconductor and system design. As a former customer, I look forward to working with our management team and employees to further strengthen Cadence’s global technology leadership and the role of the entire electronic design automation industry in enabling our customers to build even more complex devices and achieve greater profitability in their markets.”
Cadence is the largest supplier of electronic design technologies, methodology services and design services. Its products are used to accelerate and manage the design of semiconductors, computer systems, networking and telecommunications equipment, consumer electronics and a other electronics-based products. It employees approximately 4,800 employees and has revenues of approximately $1.1 billion. With operations throughout the world, Cadence is headquartered in San Jose, Calif.
