Dr. Craig R.Barrett, chairman of the board of directors of Intel Corporation, was the featured speaker at an AmCham CEO Forum held March 29.
Founded in 1968 to build semiconductor memory products, Intel introduced the world’s first microprocessor in 1971. Today, Intel—the world's largest chip maker—is also a leading manufacturer of computer, networking, and communications products.
In Russia, Intel has offices in Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, St. Petersburg and Sarov (Nizhny Novgorod Oblast). In recent years, it has expanded its research and development capabilities in the country with the acquisition of two domestic technology companies, Elbrus and UniPro, increasing its R&D staff from 900 to 1,550. Intel’s research laboratories are located in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Novosibirsk.
