May 13, 2009: List of quota-exempt professions for foreigners for 2009 established

[This information has been provided by AmCham member company Baker & McKenzie] Order N 132н[1], of the Russian Ministry of Public Health and Social Development, dated March 24, 2009, officially published in "Rossyiskaya Gazeta" on May 13, 2009, specifies a list of professions (positions, qualifications) to which the quotas on foreigners allowed to work in Russia do not extend. The Order comes into effect on May 24, 2009 and remains in force till the end of 2009. Pursuant to this Order the quotas do not apply to such professions as: general director of a joint stock company (association, enterprise), director of a plant (factory, enterprise, firm, representative office), data protection engineer, engineer on automatization and mechanization of production, etc. The list includes 17 professions in total.
